Bill graduated from North Texas State University with a degree in Marketing. He served  2 years in the US Army and then joined Union Carbide Corporation Consumer Products Division. He worked in their marketing department and as a retail sales specialist in the Texas/Oklahoma markets. He later joined Service Brokerage Company, a Texas food broker, and served as Headquarter Salesman, Retail Sales Manager, and Senior Vice President of their General Merchandise and HBA Departments. Then, he spent two years in the car wash industry.  Following that he worked at San-Tex Marketing and served as Sales Manager for food, drug and convenience store accounts. He went to work for Marketing and Promotion, Inc. in 1990.
